The irony of sun as our ego/external self in astrology ☀️
TL:DR : I discuss about the ☀️ Sun as our ego/external self, lessons we learn in this lifetime, the irony of our Sun sign and living out it’s destiny as a part of our journey through life.
I think I finally get why the sun is regarded as the ego and external self in astrology. We say that the sun is what drives us, our truth, but then what about the moon? moon is our emotional self, the way our mind works, so what’s the role of the sun? sun is what we have been told, what we learn from the world outside while growing up.* ¹(refer note below)
It’s also where we shine the best( i mean the literal sun) , something that gives you an external sense of self, through activities you perform out in the world. Depending on where your sun is placed in your natal chart, you will shine the bright in that arena of your life( unless it’s debilitated, your shine will then be dimmed by self doubt, it’s like a cloudy sky, the sun shines but it’s rays are dimmed due to the cloud covering it). ☁️🌥️☁️
Now based on wherever your sun is placed, subjects related to that house will always “build” you up. Something that will always make you believe in yourself, but even more so, for these things nurtures your ego and provides you with confidence ( Remember why Leos are called the confident one?).
But living out your truth can exhaust you too, not everyone else will get it, for example, having your Sun in the *note² 7th, 8th or 12th 🏠 house will be particularly hard. At times it will feel lonely, after all there’s only one sun in the sky :’) But you still have to Shine.
This is why the sun is also the leader, as by shining its light upon anything it makes others aware of things that otherwise might as well go unnoticed. May your sun shine bright and show you the light when all seems dark :)✨
Note: 1.*moon is something we carry inside of us , almost like sanskara we bring with us into a lifetime.
Note: 2 *the 7th house is the house of the ‘other’ you will forever feel complete in relationships, but people might take you for a pushover and ask you why are you so focused on your partner? what they don’t understand is that this makes you feel 'YOU’, you genuinely enjoy doting on the people in your life✨, While the 8th house is the 🏠 of taboo, of occult and sex, of things that people hide, and you know you need to hide this side as this might come off as something weird, but still this lights u up from inside☀️ On the other hand 12th house is about the loss of the 'self’, dreams and foreign land, that’s why you will be interested in analysing your dreams and finding out their hidden meanings, your own sense of self will always evade you, like it isn’t something solid, something that keeps on changing
